Wilton Driver Killed in Route 101 Collision
Two-vehicle accident shuts down highway for over four hours
By Peter Bragdon
Milford Observer Publisher
A two-car accident on Route 101 claimed the life of a Wilton woman early Monday afternoon. The woman, identified by police as 23-year-old Kira Guild of Wilton, was the driver of an eastbound Jeep Liberty that reportedly crossed the yellow line and was then struck by a westbound Isuzu Rodeo driven by James Krolikowski, 55, of Bedford. Krolikowski is reported by Milford police to be in stable condition at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua.
The accident occurred just before 12:30 P.M. on the bridge where Route 101 crosses over Route 101-A, near Lorden Plaza. It appears that guardrails on the overpass kept the Jeep from falling to Route 101-A below. Route 101 was closed for approximately four and one-half hours while police conducted an investigation.
Milford police, fire and ambulance crews were assisted by emergency services personnel from Amherst and Mont Vernon.
The accident remains under investigation. Anyone having information about the accident is encouraged to call Milford Police Sergeant Kevin Furlong at 673-7742.
